CBD as an antioxidant

CBD is a potent antioxidant. In a preclinical study, CBD was found to be more effective as a neuroprotective antioxidant than either vitamin C or vitamin E, making CBD a potentially useful therapeutic agent for the treatment of oxidative neurological disorders such as cerebral ischemia.

Cerebral/brain ischemia is a condition in which there is insufficient blood flow to the brain to meet the body’s demand. This leads to poor oxygen supply or cerebral hypoxia and thus to the death of brain tissue or cerebral infarction (death of brain tissue) or stroke.
