Celery: A multi-faceted health tool

Celery is a fragrant plant with multifaceted medicinal properties like antioxidant, antibacterial, antifungal, anticancer, hypoglycemic, antimalarial, antiepileptic, cytotoxic, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, antipyretic and immunomodulatory effect. In addition celery is also used for stomach pain, jaundice and to increase the breast milk secretion(1).

Celery is rich in compounds including limonene, selinene, glycosides, flavonoids, and vitamins. These constituents are also reported to prevent cardiovascular diseases, jaundice, urinary tract obstruction, gout, and rheumatic disorders(2).
