Wheatgrass improves ulcerative colitis

A study found that patients who were given the wheatgrass extract showed significant improvement in rectal bleeding and abdominal pain associated with ulcerative colitis, a type of inflammatory bowel disease. The authors gave theories that the flavonoids, anti-inflammatory agents, contained in wheatgrass, played a role in alleviating symptoms.
